The Redcoats Are Coming!

The Redcoats Are Coming! split up. It's such a shame because these girls had attics-full of gorgeous, spooky charm, and a sick amount of talent (not just musically... check out their myspace and follow the links to their individual websites). On the other hand, my brother says he loves when good bands break up, because each member then forms their own band and now you have 3 great groups instead of one! - "Ring the Bell" is taken from a release that I am going to call The White CDR. I love all the random clicks and chimes that saturate this track. Really beautiful stuff.

Loomis Slovak

Raw and rad post-hardcore attack from Southern California... circa 1994. Chad and Devin are now in Medications (just one of many other projects they've been involved in). The "1917-2917 : 1000 year reign of terror" 7-inch was recorded on a 4-track and pressed on almost completely smooth vinyl. Trust me, no amount of record cleaning can remove the snap, crackle, and pop from this release on Youth Strike Chord (awesome label, more to come from them). Somehow, that comforts me.
